Eight points clear with 26 games to go. Liverpool remain unbeaten and top of the Premier League with a resounding 3-1 win over Manchester City at Anfield.
Fabinho channeled his inner Steven Gerrard with a 30-yard pile-driver. Mo Salah added the second minutes later and Sadio Mane put the icing on the cake with the third goal just after half-time.
Earlier in the week, Liverpool moved top of their Champions League group beating Genk 2-1 at Anfield.
Gini Wijnaldum scored first but it was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who once again rescued the points in Europe with another fine finish before the hour mark.
Both Fabinho and Oxlade-Chamberlain have been banging on the door of the power rankings but can they surpass the full-backs and the front three?
As the season progresses, we will continue to work out who sits in the top five of our power rankings, determining who Liverpool’s most influential and consistent individuals are.
Here’s who tops the pile after Gameweek 12…
5: Andy Robertson
Last Week: 4
He’s just immense. In attack or defence, you back Robertson to get the job done. The Scotsman provided the cross for Mo Salah’s goal, while Kyle Walker had little joy down Liverpool’s left.
4: Trent Alexander-Arnold
Last week: 2
The Salah goal all started with Trent’s beautiful cross-field pass to Roberston, cutting the City team in half. It may not have shown on the scoresheet but Alexander-Arnold continues to be Liverpool’s best creator.
3: Fabinho
Last Week: Not ranked
What a hit
The Brazilian was protected for this game last weekend against Villa and boy was it worth it.
He’s already the best defensive midfielder in the world and basically shut up everyone who had Fernadinho in their combined XI’s building up to the game.
A wonder-strike in the opening minutes set Liverpool up for a historic win.
2: Mo Salah
Last week: 3
Fabinho’s hit got Anfield on their feet, but Salah’s cued pandemonium and sent Pep Guardiola back slouching in his seat.
The Egyptian also set-up Oxlade-Chamberlain’s winner against Genk midweek. Long may it continue.
1: Sadio Mane
Last Week: 1
Game set and match. That’s what it felt like when Mane headed home six minutes into the second half against City.
Timely goals seem to come naturally to the winger, who continues to lead Liverpool in goals and was in no real danger of losing his spot on top.
