Liverpool will be aiming to get some sort of a positive result when they face Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at Camp Nou.
With the return leg being at Anfield next Tuesday, the Reds will be looking to score an away goal or two tonight and keep the Barcelona attackers, especially Lionel Messi, under check and take the tie on in Merseyside.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have been in top form of late, whether it be in Premier League or in the Champions League. Hence, in terms of confidence levels, they are pretty high at the moment.
However, they have to be at their absolute best in order to get a positive result against a star-studded Barcelona team in Spain.
In terms of an injury update, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho, the duo who missed the game against Huddersfield on Friday, have travelled with the squad and are in contention to start.
Here’s how we think Klopp may line his team up tonight:
GK - Alisson
The Brazil international is Liverpool’s first-choice keeper and should be in goal tonight.
RB - Trent Alexander-Arnold
The youngster has been in great form of late and will have to be at his best to deny the Barca wide players.
CB - Joel Matip
Though Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren are back fit, Matip has done well in the past couple of months and deserves to keep his place in the team.
CB- Virgil van Dijk
The Dutchman is an irreplaceable cog in the team. His aim will be to stop Messi and co.
LB - Andy Robertson
The Scotsman is the Reds’ first-choice left-back. He should start tonight without a shadow of a doubt.
CDM - Fabinho
The Brazil international is back fit and should start in defensive midfield tonight.
RCM - Jordan Henderson
The captain has been in supreme form ever since starting in an advanced midfield role. He should start there tonight and look to continue his good form.
LCM - Georginio Wijnaldum
The Dutchman’s mobility and ability to keep hold of the ball in midfield amidst pressure is something that would be required in abundance tonight.
RW - Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian star has been in great form of late and he’ll be aiming to pose a threat to the Barcelona defence tonight.
ST - Roberto Firmino
The Brazilian star was unfit for the previous game, but he travelled with the squad after taking part in one training session. Hence, there is a massive chance he will start tonight.
LW - Sadio Mane
The Senegalese star is another player in good form for the Reds. He will be aiming to scare the Barca defence on the counter.
