It was a nervy return to Anfield for the European Champions on Wednesday night.
Liverpool cruised into an early 3-0 lead against Salzburg and it looked like it was going to be one of those magical nights for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Austrian side replied with three goals of their own, however, to give Liverpool a huge fright.
Although Salzburg left Merseyside with no points to show for their incredible performance, they impressed everyone inside Anfield.
One player in particular, Takumi Minamino, had Liverpool fans in awe with his performance.
These Reds supporters took to Twitter to heap praise on the 24-year-old.
That Takumi Minamino for them tonight was a joke, what a player he is

What a fantastic comeback from Red Bull Salzburg and one they absolutely deserve. Takumi Minamino has been superb here. Liverpool have been horribly complacent since their own third goal.

Read Liverpool Verdict
It’s fair to say Minamino has gained a number of fans after his performance at Anfield.
The technique for his goal was incredible – to take a volley like that first time and control it so well showed exactly what a technical player he is.
It has been a long time since a player has come to Anfield and controlled the midfield like he did in the second half.
If such superb performances keep being produced by Minamino, this won’t be the last we hear of him.
The Japan international has already been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, less than 24 hours after his display.
Klopp and his scouting team will be keeping a firm eye on Salzburg’s star after Wednesday’s game.
