Liverpool have reportedly ‘presented an offer’ to Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio in recent months.

The Reds are expected to enter the market for attacking reinforcements in the near future and one of the names linked was that of the 25-year-old.

No longer a sure-fire starter at the Bernabeu, Asensio is believed to have even ‘studied the housing options’ on Merseyside amidst speculation.

That’s according to a report from Spanish outlet El Nacional that now claims the Anfield club have moved onto other targets – such as the hotly tipped Luis Diaz.

The report claims that Liverpool now ‘prefer’ the 31-cap Columbian ace as well as the ‘very interesting’ Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma.

This season Asensio has scored seven times and provided one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £36million and under contract in Madrid until 2023 (Transfermarkt), signing the Spaniard at an affordable price is becoming a realistic prospect.

Capable of operating across the frontline and with previous rich acclaim, it’s clear to see why Jurgen Klopp would’ve been keen.

However, it would certainly seem that the club has turned attention to capturing Diaz instead and Asensio may have to seek interest from elsewhere.
