Liverpool are reportedly ‘ready to activate’ a release clause to land Barcelona wonderkid Gavi.

The Reds have previously been linked with a move for the 17-year-old sensation and could be about to trigger a €50million (£42.7million) clause to land the teenager.

Another product of the Catalan club’s famed La Masia youth academy having made the early switch from Real Betis in 2015, Gavi has emerged as a prodigious talent in recent months.

According to a report from Elnacional, as cited by The Premier League And More on Twitter, Liverpool could be about to make their move.

The report claims both Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also keen on the ‘desirable’ fee whilst Jurgen Klopp sees the four-cap starlet as a ‘great investment’ for the club.

So far this season Gavi – who was hailed as ‘exceptional’ by Luis Enrique – has earned a 6.72 average Sofascore rating from 13 La Liga outings.

Liverpool have certainly developed a taste for signing talented youngsters during Klopp’s Anfield reign.

All of Harvey Elliott, Kaide Gordon, Bobby Clark and Marcelo Pitauliga have joined the club and look to be heading for first-team success.

Already an established member of a struggling Barcelona side, the £22.5million valued Gavi would be another eye-opening capture with a nod to the future.

As cited in the report, Xavi’s side may need to recover from the financial hit having missed out on qualification from the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Furthermore, Liverpool’s board are said to be ‘willing to grant’ the funds in order to bring ‘the chosen one’ to Merseyside.
