Liverpool trio called up for England ahead of international break

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson have been called up for England, ahead of the upcoming international break.

This weekend sees the last round of Premier League matches take place before another rather tedious two-week gap in domestic action, making the campaign feel disjointed in the process.

Liverpool visit Manchester City in a huge league clash at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon, with the final result potentially having a big impact on the title race.

Alexander-Arnold, Gomez and Henderson are all expected to start this weekend and they are all included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the matches against the Republic of Ireland (November 12th) and Belgium (November 15th).

The first is a friendly, while the Belgium clash is a UEFA Nations League meeting.

Quite why another international break is going ahead, considering what is happening in the world currently, is baffling, but there are admittedly some Euro 2020 playoffs that need to be played.

The hope is that all of Liverpool’s international players remain injury-free, with the Reds suffering numerous fitness issues already this season.

Alexander-Arnold, Gomez and Henderson are all going to be hugely important figures between now and May, so from a selfish Reds point of view, the less football they play for England, the better.
