Jamie O’Hara says Mohamed Salah is the ‘closest thing’ to Lionel Messi
Many might’ve run out of superlatives for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah’s tenure since arriving at Anfield.
The 29-year-old Egyptian has been truly astonishing on Merseyside and lit up the scene once again this weekend with a magical goal against Manchester City.
Salah scored and assisted for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp‘s side were held to an enthralling 2-2 draw at home by the reigning champions.
Following a scintillating start to the season, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara told talkSPORT that Salah was comparable to six times Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.
He’s the best player in the world, for me, if you are looking at a player who is playing at the peak of his powers. I can’t look at anyone and say they are doing better than Mo Salah. Not only is he doing it in the Premier League, which is the best league in the world, but he’s doing it in big games. That performance against Man City was outstanding. The individual brilliance, especially for his goal. He used his pace and skill for Mane’s goal, but his goal was outstanding. He used all his attributes in one moment. Strength, quick feet, pace, power skill and then the finish with his weaker foot showed how good he was. This is a big statement, I think he’s the closest thing to Lionel Messi we’ve seen, without being Lionel Messi. Since Messi’s prime, if you are looking at another player who has come close in terms of a player like Messi I would say Mo Salah.
Salah’s mesmeric display included a goal and an assist as well as creating two big chances, two key passes and four completed tackles (Sofascore).

Simply outstanding.
Although many would admit Messi is amongst the greatest to play the game, the comparison is a fair one when it comes to playing style.
On current form, Salah is surpassing the Argentinian by some way and will hope to drive the Reds to glory this season.
