Former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson has tipped Liverpool youngster Kaide Gordon to emulate Harvey Elliott.

Signed from Derby County in February 2020 for an initial £1million (Liverpool Echo), the 17-year-old has already started to make an impact in the first team.

Scoring on just a second senior start for the Reds against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup, Gordon certainly looks to be a hot prospect.

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson suggested that the teen can take inspiration from a fellow attacking prodigy.

I can see him being another player like Harvey Elliott. You can see he’s got immense talent. Jurgen Klopp is not afraid to give his youngsters a chance, much like Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds. How many opportunities Gordon gets in the long term is another matter but what he did do is take his chance yesterday. He is showing signs that he will ready if called upon in the future. He’s not been at Liverpool long but he’s already showing why the club spent the money on him.

Prior to suffering a horror ankle injury, Elliott had made three consecutive Premier League starts for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

This season Gordon has scored three times and provided two assists for the club but is yet to make a top-flight debut.

Having started the season as an attacking midfielder, Kopites can look forward with optimism at the likelihood of Elliott and Gordon linking up on the right with a certain Trent Alexander-Arnold

That frightening proposition may be available to Klopp this term should the £13.5million valued Elliott make the expected return to fitness.
