Football is back on Merseyside, with the first game being the biggest game of the region between Everton and Premier League leaders Liverpool at Goodison Park.
While Jurgen Klopp’s men are 22 points clear at the top of the table and requiring just two wins to clinch the title, Everton are coming into this game needing a good start to the run-in if they are to make a push for a top-eight finish.
Though Liverpool generally have a good record against their local rivals, they haven’t won at Goodison Park in their last two visits and also failed to score in both of those games.
In terms of team news, the leaders will have a fully fit squad barring Xherdan Shaqiri available for the game. Klopp has the luxury to pick his XI from a chunk of good players.
That being said, here’s how we think the German will line his XI up:
GK - Alisson
Alisson missed the last few games before the break with am injury.
He is back fit and should be in goal come Sunday.
RB - Trent Alexander-Arnold
Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool’s first-choice right-back and is set to start in that position against Everton.
CB - Joe Gomez
Though Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren are fit, Klopp is predicted to field Gomez at centre-back.
CB - Virgil van Dijk
Van Dijk is undoubtedly Liverpool’s first-choice centre-back and should be one of the first names on the teamsheet come Sunday.
LB - Andy Robertson
Robertson should be starting at left-back and hoping to get back in the competition for assists with Alexander-Arnold.
CDM - Fabinho
Fabinho was slightly unfit before the break. He is back fully fit now and should slot into the defensive midfield for this game.
RCM - Jordan Henderson
The captain is set to lead the team out on Sunday, hoping to pick up a win and get ever so close to lifting that Premier League title.
LCM - Naby Keita
Though Liverpool have other central midfielders fit, Keita has looked sharp in training in the last three weeks and should get a chance to prove his worth in the game.
RW - Mohamed Salah
Salah missed the friendly game against Blackburn with a niggle.
The Egyptian king is back in training though and should start on Sunday.
ST - Roberto Firmino
Firmino is Liverpool’s main man up front. He is undoubtedly going to start this Sunday.
LW -Sadio Mane
Mane could have done with this rest after having played continuous football for the 18 months.
He should be fresh and raring to go again, starting from Sunday.
