Liverpool star Fabinho has set a new Premier League high for the season with a typically impressive performance.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder has forged a reputation as one of the leading men in his position in world football – as well as the nickname ‘lighthouse’ at Anfield.

As lethal Portuguese forward Diogo Jota stole the headlines with a clinical brace, Fabinho also starred in the 2-0 victory over Leicester City.

The Brazilian international was awarded a 7.50 Sofascore rating for the display containing 73 touches, 43 accurate passes and four tackles.

During the coverage from BT Sport, Michael Owen described the midfielder as ‘such a vital player’ in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

So far this season Fabinho has scored five times and provided one assist in 26 outings for the Reds.

So attack-minded are the full-backs, the central defenders can easily be left exposed – until Fabinho steps in.

This latest mini-accolade is a testament to the Brazilian’s key role as Liverpool, and the former Monaco man, go in search of more trophies.
