Harvey Elliott will not be available for Liverpool’s FA Cup fifth round meeting with Chelsea on Tuesday night.

The Reds head to Stamford Bridge in midweek, looking to reach the quarter-finals for the first time under Klopp, and also looking to respond after the shock weekend defeat to Watford.

They will have to make do without Elliott, however, with the Evening Standard‘s David Lynch confirming that he will fly out to Portugal with Liverpool’s U19s to take on Benfica in the UEFA Youth League.

Fellow young trio Neco Williams, Ki-Jana Hoever and Curtis Jones are expected to be part of the squad to face Chelsea, though, and could all feature prominently if Jurgen Klopp follows a similar selection policy as he did against both Everton and Shrewsbury.

Elliott has enjoyed an impressive first season at Liverpool, have joined from Fulham last summer.

He has made seven first-team appearances overall, making his debut against the MK Dons in the Carabao Cup.

Elliott has looked a hugely promising player when he has been given the chance – it’s a shame he won’t be available against Chelsea.

Will Elliott make over 100 appearances for Liverpool?
