Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was upbeat when asked about the rehabilitation of attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott.

The 18-year-old has been out since dislocating an ankle against Leeds United in September but seems to be on the road to a swift recovery.

Having made a bright start to the campaign following a successful season-long long spell with Blackburn Rovers last term, Klopp could do with the teenager right now.

Currently without Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner and Curtis Jones, the Reds are somewhat bereft of midfield options.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the German boss was positive about the starlet’s road to a return.

He’s great, Harvey’s great. I have no idea when exactly it’ll be, but we can’t wait actually. It looks really good. Whichever person you speak to from the rehab department, you hear that he is so determined, he is really very positive all the time with us here. It is nice to see him smiling the whole day and working hard. He will be back, but how soon I don’t know.

Elliott has been keeping supporters updated with his own progress on social media and Kopites will be hopeful of seeing the England youth international before too long.

Prior to the cruel setback at Elland Road, the ex-Fulham teen had started three consecutive Premier League matches.

How Liverpool wish Elliott was fit and ready to go right now.

Despite initial cautious reports suggesting that the £13.5million valued ace would likely only return before the end of the season, there is surely room for more optimism based on Klopp’s update and Elliott’s progress.

To coin an old football phrase, Kopites will be hopeful that the teenager can be ‘like a new signing’ in January…
