Monday saw Liverpool announce themselves as one of the 12 founding members of the European Super League.

The reaction to the news has been far from complimentary with plenty of pundits and fans upset by the idea.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher stated he was sickened by the idea of Liverpool joining the movement.

Carragher hasn’t been the only former Red that has been upset by the decision.

Former Liverpool midfielder and current assistant manager for Rangers, Gary McAllister, spoke out yesterday on the news.

During his press conference ahead of Rangers’ game against St Johnstone today, McAllister said he was disappointed to see the Reds involved…

You can see from the interview that McAllister is completely against the idea.

As he explains, the connect and relationship between the fans and the people at the top should be transparent.

Liverpool have let down their fans along with the other six English club’s involved.

I understand Gary’s point about clubs having to make money and it has been tough this past year.

However, this does not give the clubs at the top the right to split away in favour of greed and wealth, leaving the other clubs behind to fight for the scraps.

The European Super League takes away everything we enjoy about football – the underdog stories, the promotion and relegation.

Without these, the beauty and unpredictability of our sport is lost.
