Liverpool came out on top of the first of two meetings this week against Arsenal at Anfield.

The Reds ran out 3-1 winners in the Premier League clash after an almost perfect performance.

Mikel Arteta’s visiting side were somewhat passive in the opening exchanges as the champions flexed their considerable muscles.

However, it was the Gunners who took a surprise lead through Alexandre Lacazette. During a rare Arsenal foray into the Liverpool half, Andy Robertson miscued his clearance directly into the French striker’s path for him to scramble home.

The lead wasn’t to last long though. Scorned by undeservedly going behind, Mo Salah forced Bernd Leno into a save, although the visiting keeper could only gift Sadio Mane an easy tap in.

Moments later, Jurgen Klopp’s side were ahead as Trent Alexander-Arnold assisted his opposite full-back at the back post; Robertson redeeming himself for his earlier error.

With 10 minutes remaining, new signing Diogo Jota replaced the outstanding Mane and in truth, he could have scored a hat-trick!

The Portuguese forward did get his name on the scoresheet with minutes to go as his volley from the edge of the box found the bottom right corner.

Here’s how we rated the Reds…
