After a midweek disappointment in Madrid on Tuesday, Liverpool will be aiming to keep their winning form going in the league when they face struggling West Ham United on Monday night at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently 19 points clear at the top of the table and have won their last 17 league games. However, they were dealt a defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid in first leg of the last-16 tie in the Champions League on Tuesday
The Reds will now be looking to get back to winning ways against a West Ham side who are currently in the bottom three in the league table and are struggling for any kind of form under David Moyes.
In terms of team news, Klopp confirmed that captain Jordan Henderson will miss three weeks of action due to a hamstring injury. Xherdan Shaqiri is still out, while Nathaniel Clyne is back running but is still far away from returning to the team.
That all being said, here’s how we think the German will line his XI up.
GK - Alisson
Alisson is Liverpool’s first-choice keeper and should be in goal against the Hammers. The Brazilian will be looking to keep his clean sheet streak going in the league.
RB - Trent Alexander-Arnold
Alexander-Arnold’s form has been subpar in the last few games. His crossing output has gone down, whilst his defensive work could improve. The local lad isn’t one for shying away though, and he will keep trying to get better.
CB - Joe Gomez
Gomez has been in sensational form at the back. There is a reason why he is ahead in the pecking order even though Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren are fit.
The Englishman is one of the first names on the teamsheet these days.
CB - Virgil van Dijk
The Dutchman wasn’t at his best against Atleti and looked a bit too casual at times. He will be aiming to improve on that and help the team keep another clean sheet in the league.
LB - Andrew Robertson
While his fullback counterpart’s form has dipped in the past few weeks, Robertson has been on the upward curve.
The Scotsman is the team’s first-choice left-back and should be in the XI come Monday night at Anfield.
CDM - Fabinho
Since his return from injury, Fabinho has looked a bit rusty.
He will want to shrug that off as soon as possible, starting with a good performance against West Ham.
RCM - Naby Keita
With Henderson out, we believe that Keita is going to replace him in an advanced midfield role.
This is a golden opportunity for the Guinean international to put together a run of good games.
LCM - Georginio Wijnaldum
Wijnaldum’s performances in the last two games weren’t really up to scratch.
The Dutchman is set to start against West Ham but will need to up his game to keep his place in the team going forward.
RW - Mohamed Salah
After a fruitful January, Salah hasn’t had a great February so far. The Egyptian will be looking to get his form back on track.
He has a good personal record against the Hammers, and there is a chance he improves that record on Monday.
ST - Roberto Firmino
With West Ham expected to sit deep in their shape, Firmino’s craft and guile in the final third could be required to break them down.
The Brazilian hasn’t scored a league goal at Anfield this season. Monday wouldn’t be a bad time to get one!
LW - Sadio Mane
Mane came off the bench against Norwich and scored the winning goal, while he was taken off at half-time on Tuesday in Madrid as Klopp thought he could get sent off. The Senegalese international will look to add to his tally of league goals at Anfield.
