Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has posted a video on social media as he steps up his recovery from a season-ending knee injury in the gym.

Not seen on the pitch since the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Manchester City back in November, the 23-year-old was ruled out for the rest of the campaign when he picked up a knee tendon problem whilst away on international duty.

The blow was made all the difficult to swallow for Jurgen Klopp, having already lost Virgil van Dijk for the season, before Joel Matip compounded the defensive problems in January when his campaign came to a premature end.

Both Gomez and Van Dijk have recently made their returns to Liverpool’s new state of the art Kirkby training centre –  with the Englishman taking to Instagram to update fans on his progress earlier today.

Liverpool have undoubtedly suffered following the loss of Gomez, who was lauded as ‘sensational’ by Jurgen Klopp, failing to defend their Premier League crown and struggling to make the top-four as things stand.
