Yesterday saw Liverpool play their first game after FSG announced their involvement in the European Super League.

The Reds drew 1-1 with Leeds United at Elland Road in a very tense and dystopian game.

Ahead of the game, plenty of talk on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football surrounded the ESL.

This included after the final whistle too, with pundits keen to get the opinion of the Liverpool players and manager.

James Milner captained the side last night and spoke to Sky Sports after the game in his post-match interview.

The chat started about the squads performance, but soon turned to Milner’s thoughts about the proposal.

The Englishman was quick to voice his thoughts on it, offering a short and relatable response…

“I don’t like it and I hope it doesn’t happen”.

As you can see, Milner is evidently against the ideas surrounding the European Super League like many others are.

When asked about why he thinks it is a bad idea, he simply eludes to what everyone has been saying about it.

It isn’t hard to understand why someone wouldn’t like the idea, and Milner likely feels there is no point repating the same points over again.

It is important, however, for a player such as Milner to speak out against it like this.

To even discover that the players weren’t even told of the decision in advance, and instead found out with the rest of the footballing world is disgraceful.

Milner is clearly against the decision and as he says, hopefully the concept doesn’t happen and is nipped in the bud.
