Liverpool will face Arsenal tonight in the Premier League with both sides holding 100% records from their opening two matches.
Jurgen Klopp’s side welcome Mikel Arteta’s Gunners to Anfield for the first of two meetings in the same week as the will also pair face off for a place in the Carabao Cup fifth round on Thursday night.
The two sides have made a habit of crossing paths in recent months having met in the league and Community Shield.
The defending Premier League champions are likely to field two very different sides across the two clashes as Klopp goes in search of yet more success.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will miss both matches as he continues to recover from a knee injury, whilst Joe Gomez is back in full training and could feature this week.
Having made his bow in the second half of last weekend’s victory over Chelsea, new assigning Tiago Alcantara could be in line for his full Reds debut, but both he and Alisson have been made indury doubts.
Diogo Jota came on for the last half-hour against Lincoln City on Thursday and is likely to feature from the bench again.
Here’s how we think Jurgen Klopp will line his side up…
GK - Alisson Becker
Hopefully he’s fit enough to play. Returned to form and confidence last week after a slight dip from his usual high standards. The penalty save will have boosted both. If he’s not fit, Adrian will be in goal for the Reds.
RB - Trent Alexander-Arnold
After a slow start in terms of attacking output, the mercurial talent will want to impact matches, starting now.
CB - Joe Gomez
Perhaps only fit enough for one of the two meetings this week and it should be this one to allow Fabinho to return to his usual position.
CB - Virgil van Dijk
Captained the first 45 minutes against Lincoln City and coasted through. Will be on the hunt for more clean sheets.
LB - Andy Robertson
Has begun the season in fine form and should be well-rested after staying at home and watching the Reds win at Lincoln.
CDM - Fabinho
Should return to a more familiar role after deputising at centre-back so capably last week. Quickly becoming a vital part of the side.
CM - Thiago
Impressed enough in his first 45 minutes to start this one. Adds quality to an industrious Liverpool midfield. If he’s ruled out, then expect Gini Wijnaldum to fill in.
CM - Naby Keita
Should get the nod over Wijnaldum after a positive start to the new campaign.
RW - Mohamed Salah
The front three were all left behind for the trip to Lincoln and should be fit and raring to go. Likes playing against Arsenal.
CF - Roberto Firmino
Has terrorised Arsenal before and will be keen to do so again to kickstart his goalscoring this season.
LW - Sadio Mane
Full of confidence on the back of his brace against Chelsea. Will be looking for more of the same.
