Many Liverpool fans sceptical over links with Kalidou Koulibaly
Liverpool have long been earmarked as a potential destination for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly and on Friday reliable journalist Christian Falk confirmed the interest remains active.
Given the tribulations in the heart of the defence this season that have lead to Jurgen Klopp using upwards of 15 central defensive partnerships, the Reds are expected to bolster their options before the start of next season.
With Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all likely to be back in contention at the start of next term, signing the 29-year-old, 30 in June, would raise serious questions over who would be the preferred pairing.
With 274 Napoli appearances, many of which have come in the Champions League, Koulibaly is a first-class operator and would add to Liverpool’s solidity.
Despite all the positives, Kopites have been rather less enthused by the idea in their reactions on Twitter.
