Four things we learned about Liverpool from their pre-Bradford training session

Liverpool got their pre-season underway with a 6-0 win over Tranmere Rovers on Thursday evening and their next game will be against Bradford City on Sunday.
The game at the Northern Commercials Stadium will help raise money for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, the charity set up by former Red Stephen Darby was forced to retire from football last year after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
Liverpool trained at Melwood earlier today ahead of the game, and here’s what we took from the session.
Return for Dejan
Dejan Lovren missed the Tranmere game having only returned to training on Tuesday, but he took part in the full session with his teammates on Saturday and he’ll take part in the game on Sunday.
No game time for returning five
On Saturday, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum all returned to Melwood following their breaks. The quartet of Alexander-Arnold, Henderson, Van Dijk and Wijnaldum were put through their paces in a variety of fitness tests but they did not do any training and as such, we learned that they won’t play against Bradford. We also learned that Andy Robertson has had minor surgery on his hand after he was bitten by an insect and as such, he won’t play against Bradford either.
No Rhian Brewster or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
There were no signs of Rhian Brewster or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the session. There has been no word of any injuries and Liverpool may just be protecting the duo after their recent absences but it’s interesting to note that they didn’t take part in the session.
No holding back!
Whilst it was only a training session, Liverpool’s players did not hold back, especially James Milner, who was more than happy to outmuscle a few of the younger players. A good lesson for the youngsters from the veteran midfielder.
