Manchester City have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of their huge clash with Liverpool this weekend with the news that David Silva will not be available for selection.

As reported by David McDonnell of The Mirror, Silva picked up a muscular injury during the 2-1 home win over Southampton on Saturday and as such, he will miss the midweek Champions League game against Atalanta and the huge Premier League clash at Anfield.

Despite being 33-years-old, Silva is still a key player for City and whilst he certainly has other options in terms of midfielders, it will still be a blow for Pep Guardiola to lose his club captain for one of the biggest league games of City’s season.

It’s never good to see players injured but not having to face David Silva will be a boost for Liverpool.

However, Man City still have some excellent midfielders so the Reds will still have to play extremely well to get all three points of Sunday.
