Liverpool face German giants Borussia Dortmund in their first pre-season game of the USA Tour at the Notre Dame Stadium.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have already played two pre-season games so far, winning both of them against Tranmere Rovers and Bradford City.
However, in terms of getting the squad tested ahead of the new season, a game against Dortmund is ideal for most of the players.
So far in the two games, the manager has played 22 players, 11 in each half in order to take a look at almost everyone and not exert much on them.
Several young players were on show during those encounters and they are expected to get the chance in America too.
With established players like Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Georginio Wijnaldum back, Klopp has a wider squad to pick his line-ups from for this game.
Here’s how we think the German could field his starting XI against his former team:
GK - Simon Mignolet
The Belgium international has featured in both pre-season games and is in line to start against Dortmund as well.
RB - Nathaniel Clyne
Clyne has been impressive so far and deserves another chance to feature.
CB - Joe Gomez
Gomez is in line to get a start in central defence. This is another important pre-season game for him, as he aims to get back to the manager’s regular first-team plans.
CB - Virgil van Dijk
Star defender Virgil van Dijk could get his first pre-season minutes in the first half against Dortmund.
LB - Andy Robertson
The Scotland captain could be another one to get his first pre-season action at the Notre Dame Stadium.
RCM - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Oxlade-Chamberlain is in line to get another start. This is another important game for him to recover some much-needed match fitness.
CDM - Fabinho
Fabinho has played in both the games so far and may get a start against the German side.
LCM - James Milner
The experienced Milner should be starting as he looks to instill more pre-season minutes in his legs.
RW - Harry Wilson
The Wales international has looked good on the right wing and Klopp may hand him another chance to impress against better opposition.
ST - Rhian Brewster
The youngster has been in good scoring form so far. He is in line to start against Dortmund and get his attributes tested.
LW - Ryan Kent
The winger has been in and out of form in the two games. He may get a start in this game but the performance needs to improve to impress the manager.
